Gavril Malysh
1907 - 1997
A Note From the Collector
Gavriil Malysh; born in the Ukraine in 1907. Died in St Petersburg 1997.
Regarded as one of the brightest representatives of the Leningrad School, his work appears in all the major museums and galleries in Russia as well as in numerous private collections worldwide.
When the iron curtain was lifted in 1989, European dealers rushed to the old Soviet Union to investigate the art scene. That is when I was first introduced to the work of Gavriil Malysh.
Although unfashionably Post Impressionist in style, I was attracted by his use of color, composition and sheer love of nature. Since then, I have built up a collection of his works which now appear on this website.
